The educational center. Guitar Lessons for Kids How to Play Chords

The guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments in the world. In the last century, its new types made revolutionary changes in music, giving rise to new styles and directions. This applies in particular to electric guitar and bass guitar. The acoustic guitar, or “acoustics,” does not lose its popularity; it is taught in many specialized schools, studios, and clubs in our city.

Qualified teachers will teach children all the nuances and features of playing the guitar, not limited, of course, to the “three yard chords.” It is worth remembering that the learning process is rarely quick: especially impatient amateurs should still follow the advice of the masters, and not rush them, wanting to quickly surprise their company.

Learning to play the guitar is an important component of the aesthetic development of children. Having mastered playing this stringed instrument, boys and girls will more easily master others, remembering the skills acquired in class. Everyone can choose their own course: some want to work exclusively with an individual tutor, others in a group. For some, the basic level is important, while others intend to take the matter seriously and study it for several years.

First steps during training

In technical terms, the process of playing the guitar is holding the strings on the frets with one hand and plucking them with the other hand (or hitting them with your fingers or a pick). Therefore, the first thing to do is to “place” your hands correctly. That is, get used to their position, which will be necessary for the game. Many people are dismissive of this, but staging is important for convenience, for playing technique, and for preventing fatigue during it. The next step is sound production. That is, the hands must move “in coordination”: one pinch the strings, the other produces sound. And only after that you can move on to learning chords. First, general ones, and only after you have “filled up” your hands, you should move on to song ones.

Playing guitar. Memo for parents

The latest methods of learning to play the guitar make it possible to introduce students to this art from the age of 4-5. But not all children at this age can cope with basic social skills, so they are unlikely to be able to pick up the guitar. At a minimum, a child must be able to talk, formulate his thoughts, not shut down when meeting strangers, and be ready to learn. You shouldn’t write off your predisposition to study music. The teacher, of course, will check the child’s hearing and abilities. But it is important in the family to discern the child’s inclination to master the guitar. In addition, you need to decide for yourself whether you are ready to devote time and effort to practicing the guitar. After all, taking your child to a music school does not mean that your mission is over. It is necessary to motivate the future guitarist to practice regularly at home, help him, and attend classes. This is the only way you will see the result. It is also important to be prepared for financial expenses. The guitar itself and the set of attributes that you cannot do without must be of good quality. As the child grows up, there will be a need to update his musical arsenal.

A few words about the ukulele - the “little sister” of the guitar

The instrument received its modern name in the Hawaiian Islands, which is why many people call the ukulele a “ukulele.” But back in the 15th century. some Europeans played its “ancestor” - and it was not a matter of fashion, but the fact that mandolins and guitars were very expensive and were beyond the means of almost everyone. In the island American state, ukuleles began to be made from the local Koa acacia - a symbol of the island. Hawaii. The Pacific Exposition of 1915, held in San Francisco, introduced this instrument to many US residents and guests of the country. In the 21st century, the ukulele remains a popular and sought-after attribute of many musicians.

Worked with such artists and groups as: Glukoza, DJ Smash, EF5 group (opening for Maroon5), Zhanna Aguzarova and Expand etc. Participated in the filming of the TV shows Evening Urgant, "Factor A" (season 1 and 2). Now I work in the top Moscow cover band Yuppies, where I have constant professional practice. Individual classes are held in a studio with excellent renovation. All necessary equipment and musical instruments are available, so you don’t have to bring your own guitar to class. You can spend time in comfort in the guest room. Save your time! By studying with a teacher, you will learn in a short time everything that you could spend years studying on your own!! Many people try to learn to play the guitar on their own. Yes, it is true that some famous musicians taught themselves to play to one degree or another, but I do not recommend following this principle, even if your favorite guitarist was self-taught. If you are 100% confident that you can build truly effective learning and training systems on your own, great. However, if you're like most of us, doing it yourself is the hardest, most ineffective, stressful, and frustrating way to learn anything. This is a mistake that should be avoided at all costs. Some guitarists think they will impress others if they say, “I taught myself to play guitar.” Some inexperienced people might think it's cool, but in reality, being self-taught is not a badge of honor. How do you prefer to impress people, with your playing or with meaningless statements about your playing? I'm not criticizing being self-taught, I'm just saying that there are no advantages to being self-taught... and no, it's not true that self-taught makes us more "original." In fact, it's usually the other way around. There are many opportunities and many different paths to learning, so it is extremely important that you do not constantly get distracted by one advice from one person, another advice from another, following recommendations from other sources, etc. .d., etc. People may come up with good ideas, of course, but the fact is that distraction is the main reason why many active guitarists don't progress fast enough. These people are always busy following completely different resources, teachers, philosophies, video lessons, free online lessons, and all this makes them take one step forward, then two steps to the right, then one forward, three to the left, one - back, two - to the right, one - forward and again to the left... One of my main tasks is to make classes interesting for the student. You need to understand that everyone sets different goals for themselves. If the student is diligent and ready to work hard, then he can be fully loaded. I don't think you don't have enough potential to be a good musician or guitarist. On the other hand, there are people who, after hard work, just want to touch the “beautiful”, not related to their main activity, practicing in a relaxed mode. If you begin to put pressure on such people with musical notation, monotonous and uninteresting exercises, then all desire to play the instrument will disappear instantly. Here it is important to get interested, so that the person himself becomes interested in why, why, and how it works. For me, it is very important that already in the first lesson the student is able to play a popular musical theme, at least crookedly/obliquely. Since this motivates a person to further action. One of the advantages of playing music is that it is never too late to start doing this and achieve good results. There is an opinion that before learning to play the electric guitar, you must first learn to play the classical one. This is a big misconception. These are two related instruments, but still with slightly different specifics, different techniques, different sounds. If you want to play the electric guitar, play it right away.

My son, 9 years old, runs to a jogging lesson, despite the heavy workload in middle school and music school. The main instrument is the violin, but thanks to Evgeniy, interest Expand and the love for the guitar not only does not disappear, but grows even more. He plays at home himself and with pleasure, completing the task. The program is not classic, but we don’t need it. Modern works are selected in the musical style that is interesting to the son. Thanks to Evgeniy for my son’s sparkling eyes! All reviews (11)

There are students who have become laureates of international competitions and participants in the “Voice” project. Worked in the musical groups of Andrea Bocelli and Dima Bilan. Own curriculum, applied in practice in a state educational institution. Individual approach to each student, depending on the desired result. The training includes only the most effective methods and exercises, tested in practice. My practice has shown that there are no people incapable of developing musical abilities. I have many years of teaching experience and extensive experience in concert activities. I work with students of different ages. There is a special program for early musical development. I closely follow the development of the music industry, but I treat classical music education and the canons of music pedagogy with great trepidation. I studied and tested in practice most of the most famous guitar schools and techniques for developing voice data, which allowed me to create my own and adapt it to modern conditions. In my teaching activities I use only the most effective methods and principles of music education, which is confirmed by the rapid positive results and stable growth of students. I present complex theoretical and practical material in the most accessible and understandable way. In my classes, depending on the chosen training program and the assigned tasks, you will: quickly gain basic guitar playing skills; learn to play the guitar from notes and tablature; master the technique of playing with a pick and fingers; learn playing techniques in various styles: academic , rock, Latin American music, romances, bard songs, popular foreign and Russian pop music, jazz composition, flamenco; learn all the intricacies of playing accompaniment to your favorite songs; get ready-made templates for independently selecting accompaniment; learn to easily transpose your favorite songs to the sound of your voice; you will develop the skills necessary for proper singing; reveal the natural sound of your timbre; get rid of clamps; improve diction; develop natural vocal capabilities; comprehend the basics of music theory and solfeggio; acquire the qualities necessary for a professional musician. You will need desire, patience, hard work and systematicity. Students are given the opportunity to participate in reporting concerts, where they will gain the necessary experience of public speaking on stage in front of an audience. It is possible to record learning results in a professional recording studio. It is simply impossible to overestimate the beneficial effects of music on a person. Children need music lessons for full development. Do not postpone indefinitely your long-standing dreams and desires to play music, do not deprive your children of the joy of communicating with music! See you soon in class! Children 4-5 years old

Start...

What do you need to start studying at a guitar college?- This is one of the first questions from those who contact us.

At Guitar College Moscow people come with very different levels of training - from “zero” to “advanced”. We have several conditional gradations of the level of instrument proficiency - this is important for the further formation of groups according to interests and areas.

Here are typical phrases from our students upon admission; perhaps you will find your request among them:

Level zero – “I can’t do anything.” Or “I know Am, Dm, E, but it’s difficult to change. I also picked up “Grasshopper” on one string))!”

Beginner level- “I freely take C, E, G, D, Am, Dm, Em, H7, play several songs by fingerpicking and fighting. The problem is that the barre chords cannot be played. I would like to learn something more sensible.”

Intermediate level - “I’ve been playing the guitar for a long time, I know a lot of songs, I love to sing, but I’m interested in more complex and beautiful chords - nines, sevens, etc., and most importantly - the logic of their application.” Or “I play acoustic, but I want to play electric, but it’s heavier.” Or “I graduated from children’s music school in classics. I dream of learning to improvise, I love jazz and blues.”

Advanced level- “I’ve been playing for a long time, I didn’t leave YouTube for 2 years, then I studied with a cool private owner for 1 year. In principle, everything is fine. I'm playing. But what next? I tried to write down my own - complete dependence on what was memorized... sucks... just Klon Klonovich, no ideas. I can learn a dozen more things, but I don’t see the point, and so I spent 5 years on technology. I think it's time to get my head in order. Do you have a recipe for brain deadness? No jokes, plz” or “I play in a band. It all sounds Soviet. I don’t feel like learning notes and I don’t think they will help. Do you have teachers who will make branded solos for me for specific things? I don’t mind spending money on this business, but I also need to be taught.”

Pros - “Have a higher education (classical guitar). I have been teaching guitar at children's music schools for 8 years. I'm interested in fingerstyle. But there are a number of questions, namely: - is it necessary to play on metal strings? - How compatible are nails and steel strings? - Is it possible to perform this on nylon? - is it possible to play this music in a classical production? - Is it necessary to connect to an amplifier? I would like to receive answers to these and other questions, including those related to the specifics of this style, as well as assistance in the high-quality preparation of two or three works. Preferably individually."

The main path for applicants to Guitar College Moscow looks like this: introductory express course → assignment to teachers by specialty. For people who have graduated from music school and are planning to study individually, taking an introductory course is discussed.

Introductory express course

The classical teaching method in a music school involves a gradual movement from simple to complex. As a result, after a few years the person plays. If you try to figure out what happened to him during this time, the student has formed a certain number of reflex actions, skills and operations that work together. This is a long process that takes years. Our students often do not have that amount of time - we work mainly with an adult audience who is focused on results. The author's methodology for the introductory express course was formed over about 25 years, thanks to constant work with students of different ages, different tastes, abilities, with or without initial preparation. The course pursues practical goals and allows students to save significant time at further stages of mastering the instrument, quickly developing the skills and reflexes that form the basis of a professional musician.

Course content: sight reading of complex rhythms (including blues), stable rhythmic structures (polymeters), confident knowledge of the fingerboard, professional chord system, oral construction of non-chords (for example, A7 + 5-9), laying the foundation for harmony and improvisation. Practical tasks on the instrument (correct organization of movements of the right hand, exercises for mastering the fingerboard “by touch” - working the fingers in position without looking at the fingerboard).

Since the course involves obtaining a mandatory practical result, upon completion a test is taken on all topics.

Course duration: 2 months

Lesson duration: 150 minutes. Classes are held once a week on Sundays.

Price: 3000 rubles per month. Payment for the course at the second lesson.

Discount 1000 rub/month:

For those who have graduated from children's music school - attending individual lectures - repeating

Completing the course allows you to further form groups according to areas, level of instrument proficiency and interests (electric guitar, acoustics).

Pros of the guitar

Simplicity and accessibility. You can meet it anywhere: visiting friends, in a tent camp on a hike or on a picnic, just in the yard with a group of people - and you can always play it with the proper skills. Its purchase usually does not require a large investment (except for top professional series or master tools).

The guitar does not require any specific maintenance, like winds or drums, and it is not tied to a place like a keyboard. It does not require sophisticated hearing, like vocals and, especially, the violin.

Everything is quite simple, open and accessible in the guitar. You don’t need to know a lot of theory, there are programs that help you disassemble and read melodies, and you can tune everything on the device.

All this makes it possible to play both for children from 7 years old and for adults, busy with work and other thoughts, simply at their leisure, without spending hours delving into the process, but simply relaxed, for themselves.

The purpose of training

Creating a beautiful sound, the ability to produce notes clearly and sonorously. Play with soul. Judge for yourself, is it nice to listen to, albeit, an interesting harmony and a virtuoso part, but played clumsily? Of course not! You don’t always need a full palette of techniques and techniques. Sometimes a “picture” can be depicted in simple “colors”. You can play a very simple melody beautifully and sincerely, but, nevertheless, leave a mark and evoke pleasant emotions in the listener.

We don’t set any restrictions; you can choose any style, any author or performer whose songs you want to learn to play. We do not consider it correct to judge that a “sufficiently cultured” person should play. Our mission is to teach a person to play qualitatively and beautifully what reflects his taste, without breaking his inner world, but emphasizing it. Reveal emotions and thoughts conveyed in melodies.

For classes you will need

  • Of course, the guitar itself. Full size, ½, ¼. Electro, acoustic, classical. The teacher will help you choose from a wide range of models and manufacturers, do not forget to consult with him;
  • Computer. Modern digital technologies greatly simplify the task, helping to understand the theory, read the melody and tune the guitar;
  • Of course, the desire to learn!

Schedule

We tirelessly strive to fill this world with music. Seven days a week, every day from 10:00 to 21:00.

Where are the classes held?

At home and in the studio, you can choose one of these options, given that...

In a studio:

  • A fully prepared room awaits you. Everything you need from the instruments themselves to sound recording and playback devices. Everything here is aimed at making music;
  • Atmosphere, a unique setting where you will feel the everyday life of a musician. Here, a creative mood and complete immersion in work is possible, without looking around at neighbors and relatives;
  • Group lessons available. The opportunity to develop your project under the supervision of an artistic director, or simply learn to play in a team, understand your function, gain knowledge of how instruments are combined (advanced level).

At home:

  • You can create your own atmosphere by equipping a mini studio or just a classroom;
  • If you are accustomed to the coziness and comfortable environment of your home, but are ready to perceive them as an educational institution when necessary;
  • And most importantly, if there is no opportunity to leave chronologically, this is especially true for children, drop them off, pick them up, but do not skip work or walk outside the windows (in the absence of personal transport).

Popular questions

What is the essence of individual or group lessons?

When you study with a teacher in person, one-on-one, the classes are primarily aimed at developing your individual literacy (how to build your own game) and technical skill (how to play this game). The teacher examines your marks in more detail and can observe your actions in detail. Initially, you need to start with personal ownership of the instrument.

Classes in a group, in fact, are already lessons not with a guitar teacher, but with an artistic director. General theory of arrangement and harmony (how to combine parts), what functions the instruments perform, how they are divided by register. Play along the rhythm, learn to hear others, and not just play. This is an advanced level when you know how to play yourself, but don’t know how to apply it.

What repertoire?

Yours, only yours. Your favorite style, performer or author whose songs you would like to master. The limitation can only be in the complexity and availability of the execution technique, according to your level. Otherwise, the teacher will focus on developing skills and techniques relevant to the given style.

How to choose a tool?

Come to the interview and consult with the teacher. This is the most reliable way. A competent expert will evaluate your request, taking into account all the nuances of your needs. Based on style, age, and wallet, recommendations will be given on choosing a guitar model.

Will there be participation in concerts?

This is not necessary, but it is possible. You can choose a student mini-concert for friends and family, as well as a recording in the form of a video review according to your taste.

Maybe it won't work out?

Of course, you will encounter some difficulties along the way. Some techniques or some performance technique will be more difficult. But you can always find your own style and achieve a clear result. Regularity and attentiveness to the teacher’s advice is the key to success. Literally 10-15 lessons are enough for you to understand how far you could go and what heights you could achieve.

May I know more?
