The game is a survival game in which you will collect weapons and ammunition, but you need to save them with all your might, since this is not a shooter - you will not encounter them as often as you would like. Games in this series have been released since 1996, so they have gone from modest angular graphics and a crooked engine to a full-fledged masterpiece project of the modern gaming industry. You won't find a better co-op zombie game on PC today. The list, of course, includes not only cooperative shooters, so you should pay attention to other projects.

Killing Floor

Since we are talking about cooperative games about zombies on PC, the list should also be supplemented with the Killing Floor project, which is very different from the previous game. The thing is, Left 4 Dead places an emphasis on story - your characters go through themed campaigns, making their way through a specific area over several sections to get to a vehicle that can evacuate them. In Killing Floor, however, everything looks a little different. It's worth starting with history - as usual, the cause of zombies is a virus, only this time it was invented by order of the government to create ideal soldiers. However, the scientist who developed the virus decided to take over the entire country himself with his army of zombies. You and your friends (of which there can be a maximum of five, giving a limit of six players on one map) need to stop him. On one map, the game plays out as follows: zombies appear in waves, and in each subsequent wave there are even more of them, and special zombies also appear. After each wave, players have the opportunity to visit the Merchant to use the points they earn to purchase weapons, ammunition, equipment, get treatment, and so on. The last war brings you face to face with that same scientist - you need to kill him in order to win. As you can see, if we talk about zombie games on PC, the list is very colorful - and this is not the limit.

Dead Rising 2, 3

Unfortunately, the first part of the game was not released on computers - it only appeared on consoles. But the second and third parts of the game about zombies were released on PC. The list would be incomplete without this project, because here you have to become an ordinary survivor of a zombie apocalypse, who is left all alone in the center of a city inhabited by the walking dead. Naturally, your goal is to get out of the city, escape and survive. You'll complete missions to progress through the story, but what makes the game special is that you can level up your character (albeit to a limited extent) and use whatever you can get your hands on to fight your opponents. This could be a fire extinguisher, a piece of pipe, or even a park bench. As for the third part, it has become much larger in scale. But at the same time it remained approximately the same as the previous episode. It’s just that the situation and the main character have changed, the city has turned into an open world, that is, you are not obliged to strictly follow the storyline, but can wander the streets, doing what you like. The leveling system has also become much more interesting - now it really greatly influences how your character will perform. Here the action takes place in the eighties in an alternative reality where a zombie apocalypse occurred. Your hero wants to find his family, hoping that all members are alive. To do this, he moves around a city filled with the living dead, but, unlike previous projects, you won’t have to fight as many zombies. Most of the time you will be solving puzzles and looking for ways to hide from the walking dead without them noticing you. The fact is that zombies are equal in strength to your hero and are not ordinary cannon fodder. You can attack them with melee weapons, but using them will make your character tired, and if you choose firearms, you will face an acute shortage of ammo. One of the main features of the gameplay is already revealed in the title - the fact is that here zombies are a fairly standard enemy in daylight, but at night they turn into real monsters, ready to destroy you in a couple of blows - they become faster, stronger, smarter and more bloodthirsty. Accordingly, you should try to avoid nighttime collisions if you can do so. Dead Island Series

Moreover, the project has role-playing elements that allow you to improve your ability to use weapons, survival skills, and even the rage branch.

The Walking Dead

This is most likely one of the most unusual projects of our time, which is based on the popular television series “The Walking Dead”. However, here you will not play for familiar characters, but for a completely new hero. You won't have to shoot, run, and so on, since this project belongs to the adventure genre, but this is only conditional. It's actually something of a visual novel with multiple choice options. You just watch this game like a movie, solving puzzles periodically, but the most important thing is making decisions. But to do this, we had to destroy a huge amount of living carrion, solve puzzles, look for weapons and ammunition, and generally survive.

Initially, the game was released on the Sega console, after which it was ported to the Windows platform (that is, you can play on a PC) except for the last fourth part. The plot of the first part - AMS agents, Thomas Rogan and Gee, learn from Rogan's fiancée, Sophie Richards, that a disaster has occurred at the mansion of Doctor Curien. The doctor conducted terrible experiments that ended tragically: the results of his experiments flooded the mansion and surrounding areas. The game's protagonist, Coast Guard officer Tom, is ordered to investigate a mysterious Russian whaling ship in the middle of the ocean. Tom's team is killed and he is left alone with crazy soldiers and terrible monsters that have filled the ship. Hansen realizes that these creatures got onto the ship by hiding in a whale that the sailors caught. Soon the main hero manages to get out of the ship and get into a secret laboratory in which the crazy professor is responsible for creating monsters.

In Cold Fear, as in Resident Evil 4, the player can use either an over-the-shoulder view, convenient for shooting enemies, or a standard fixed camera view from the side. IN game uses standard intimidation techniques that can also be found in Doom 3 or Resident Evil 4. For example, a monster may be waiting behind the opening door for the player, who will immediately attack him unexpectedly. The game has a stamina indicator that decreases when the player performs any actions (for example, when running).

Most often, Hansen will encounter various zombies. The situation is complicated by the fact that a zombie can only be killed with a direct hit to the head, otherwise the wounded, revived corpse can get up again and attack the player again. The game also contains interactive objects such as barrels of fuel, fire extinguishers or valves on gas or heat communications. By shooting at them you can set them on fire, stun the enemy, or spot an invisible monster. The game is replete with all kinds of records and documents that reveal the plot in more detail.

In general, we have the opportunity to visit a variety of places - a farm, a city, a hospital, etc. First, we will have to make long runs among the tall growing crops, with the hope that the nearest zombie will not see us. In the hospital, where there was one survivor, dead doctors and patients walk around, and in the end, the infected doctor will play the role of the boss. Overall, it’s not a bad toy, but also nothing special, where you can destroy a lot of zombies without getting too dirty.

The game takes place in an alternate 1950s. After World War II, the Soviet Union became the most powerful power in the world. The people are striving for a “bright tomorrow,” construction is in full swing throughout the USSR, and the army is stronger than ever. When testing a special radiation that was supposed to improve people, everything went wrong. Most people died, the rest changed beyond recognition. The main character, Soviet officer Vladimir Serov, will deal with all this.

The game has classic gameplay in the “Retro” style, similar to “Metro-2”, “Stalker” and “Nevsky Titbit”. The player walks through locations, kills opponents, and solves simple problems, such as finding the key to open the desired door. There are few enemies in the game, but they are very diverse. When the player receives serious damage, the screen becomes completely dark, making the game very difficult.

In the third part, the main character of the game is mechanic Nick Ramos. Along with the rest of the survivors, he must escape the city of Los Perdidos before it is destroyed by a missile strike.

The game surprises with its capabilities. How do you like the idea of ​​killing thousands of zombies with banal shotguns, machine guns and baseball bats that no longer surprise anyone?
