The outgoing year is an anniversary year for the Bayan Mix team. 10 years of fame means hundreds of concerts, millions of grateful spectators, many fans and admirers.
It is no secret that the “starry” horizon is capricious and cruel. Before they have time to rise, many “stars” go out without really shining. But this does not apply to the Voitenko-Khramkov duet. Maybe the secret to success is simple luck? Of course not. It's all about colossal efficiency, hard work, and the desire to do more and better.
If you trace the creative path of Sergei Voitenko, then everything immediately becomes clear. At the age of seven, he began learning to play the button accordion at a music school in the village of Bogdanovka, Samara region. By the end of school, it became clear that this was my future favorite profession and I entered a music school.
- You know, my mother was against it. Artists don't earn much, she thought. But I managed to convince her by handing over my fee, the size of her annual salary... I was only 15 years old. But the main goal was still different - to become a professional musician, says Sergei.
After college, Sergei Voitenko entered the Samara Pedagogical University, in the class of Professor Alla Kats. In 1999 he completed his postgraduate studies at the Russian Academy of Music in the class of Professor Friedrich Robertovich Lips.
He began to play mainly solo to the accompaniment of symphony, chamber or folk orchestras. When I realized that the button accordion as an academic instrument would never stand on a par with the piano and violin, I began to come up with programs for a new, interesting sound and a modern interpretation of the works being performed. Since 2000, quite successful experiments began. Sergei created the “Non Stop” quartet, which quickly gained popularity and already in May and October 2001 won two first prizes at international competitions in Klingenthal (Germany) and Castelfidardo (Italy).
In 2002, Sergei Voitenko organized the international festival of accordion music “Vivat, Bayan!”. Until now, Sergey acts as the artistic director and producer of the festival, which is held annually in the cities of the Samara region and is the largest accordion festival in Europe.
Well, in 2005, the duet “Bayan Mix” appeared, the one we know today - a joint project of world bayan champions Sergei Voitenko and Dmitry Khramkov. The musicians play both classical works in modern dance arrangements, as well as popular melodies and world-famous hits, as well as original compositions. In 2009, they received the highest public award in the field of culture - the Silver Order of Service to Art. In 2011, he received the public award “For Services to the Fatherland.” In 2013, Sergei Voitenko was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Samara Region.

And Sergei Voitenko had a conversation with the President of the Russian Federation about the continuation of annual concerts. Vladimir Putin promised to support the musician’s initiative.
There are also tours, performances, master classes, joint projects with other artists and groups, presentations of videos, and recording discs. So, in January of the new year, the artists will conquer Paris with Soviet drinking songs and perform in other countries and cities.
